So sánh ETF VN30 và VN Diamond: Comparing the Two Strategies Driving Capital Flows in Q4 2026

As Vietnam's ETF market opens Q4 2026, its two flagship locally listed index funds are telling very different stories. Per Yahoo Finance data from the 30/09/2026 closing session, E1VFVN30 (VFMVN30 ETF) closed at 34,550 VND per unit, down 4.46% year-to-date, while FUEVFVND (DCVFMVN Diamond ETF) closed at 33,140 VND per unit, down 13.47% year-to-date.

That roughly nine-percentage-point gap — and the index construction rules behind it — is what makes the so sánh ETF VN30 và VN Diamond the central question for large-cap ETF investors this quarter.

A note on data: the figures below reflect closing prices from the 30/09/2026 session, as the 01/10/2026 trading session had not yet opened when the data was pulled. The dataset contains closing prices, percentage changes and trading volume — it does not contain official creation/redemption data, so this article deliberately does not describe any figure as \"fund flow.\"

E1VFVN30 — the VN30 benchmark tracker

E1VFVN30 is the ETF most Vietnamese investors associate with the VN30 index, the basket of the 30 largest and most liquid stocks on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange. On the 30/09/2026 close it printed 34,550 VND, essentially flat on the day at -0.35%, and down 1.18% over the week and 3.34% over the month. Its year-to-date decline of 4.46% is the smallest among the three VN30-tracking products in the dataset, and its reported volume of 250K units is the highest of any locally listed ETF shown here.

You can review the product specifics on the E1VFVN30 fund page, and the underlying selection rules in our VN30 index guide.

FUEVFVND — the Diamond strategy

FUEVFVND tracks a structurally different index. On the same 30/09/2026 close it stood at 33,140 VND, marginally positive on the day at +0.06%, but softer over the week (-2.62%) and month (-2.53%). The standout number is its year-to-date return of -13.47%, which is close to three times the drawdown of E1VFVN30 over the same period. Reported volume was 138K units.

Fund details are available on the FUEVFVND fund page, while the screening criteria are explained in our VN Diamond index guide.

The rest of the board

The wider field adds useful context. FUESSV30 (SSIAM VN30 ETF) closed at 24,400 VND, up 0.83% on the day and down 3.56% YTD — the strongest one-day move among the VN30 group. FUESSV50 (SSIAM VNX50 ETF) at 28,360 VND is the only fund in the table with a positive year-to-date return, at +1.30%, which underlines how narrow leadership on HOSE has been this year.

FUESSVFL (SSIAM VN FINLEAD ETF) closed at 28,550 VND, down 5.40% YTD. FUEKIVFS (KIM Growth VN30 ETF) at 16,220 VND posted the sharpest one-day fall in the group at -6.78% on negligible reported volume. Offshore, VanEck's VNM at $17.00 was down 11.02% YTD, a reminder that the foreign-listed wrapper and the onshore trackers are not the same exposure.

Why the so sánh ETF VN30 và VN Diamond gap is so wide

The two funds do not track the same universe, and that is the whole story. The VN30 index selects the 30 largest and most liquid listings on HOSE and weights them by capitalisation, so E1VFVN30 behaves like a broad large-cap beta play. The VN Diamond index screens for companies that have effectively run out of foreign ownership room — the so-called \"diamond\" names that foreign investors can often only access by buying the ETF itself.

The practical consequence: the two baskets overlap only partially, sector concentration differs, and in a year when foreign selling pressure hits the most-foreign-held names hardest, the Diamond basket can underperform the VN30 by a wide margin — as the 4.46% versus 13.47% YTD split shows.

Volume, liquidity and what this dataset does not show

On reported volume, E1VFVN30 turned over 250K units against 138K units for FUEVFVND — liquidity still clearly favours the VN30 tracker, which matters for execution cost on larger orders. Note the limits of the data: trading volume is not the same as net creation/redemption, so nothing here should be read as evidence of capital entering or leaving either fund. For a deeper read on the quarter's flows, see our Q4 2026 ETF market analysis.

How to use this so sánh ETF VN30 và VN Diamond in Q4 2026

Three practical checks before allocating: confirm which index each ticker actually replicates; compare total cost and tracking difference rather than price per unit (a lower unit price is not \"cheaper\"); and size positions against the liquidity in the table above. Track the pair on our ETF comparison page as Q4 develops.

FAQ

Which ETF is cheaper, E1VFVN30 or FUEVFVND? A lower price per unit does not mean a cheaper fund. Compare management fees and tracking difference, not the quoted unit price.

Does the wider YTD gap mean VN Diamond is oversold? Not on this data alone. The gap reflects index construction and foreign-room dynamics, and the dataset here contains no valuation or flow information.

Can I hold both? Yes — the two indices overlap only partially, so the pair can serve different roles in a large-cap allocation.
