Thị trường ETF recap, 22/10/2026: Vietnam's ETF market closed the session on a firm footing. The VN-Index added 1.26% to 1,760.63 points — within three points of its intraday high of 1,763.55 — while the 24 HOSE-listed ETFs split into 8 gainers, 7 decliners and 9 unchanged on total turnover of VND28.70 billion. Aggregate ETF assets under management stood at VND23.19 trillion, and foreign investors were net buyers of VND15.82 billion across the thị trường ETF (VND20.84 billion bought versus VND5.02 billion sold), with the bulk of that flow concentrated in a single fund. Full market data is available on our market dashboard.

Key Takeaways

  • Breadth beat benchmarks: 8 of 24 HOSE ETFs advanced and total turnover reached VND28.70 billion against VND23.19 trillion of AUM, yet VN30-tracking funds lagged on the thị trường ETF scoreboard as the VN30-Index rose only 0.66% versus 1.26% for the VN-Index.
  • Flow concentration: FUEVFVND absorbed VND14.59 billion of foreign net buying — roughly 92% of the entire thị trường ETF segment's VND15.82 billion net inflow — while E1VFVN30 added a modest VND0.77 billion.
  • Divergence inside the large-cap complex: E1VFVN30 closed at 33,980 VND (+0.38%) while FUESSV30 fell 0.46% to 23,850 VND, even though both track the same VN30 basket.

1. Broad Market Sets the Tone: VN-Index Outruns VN30

Why the index gap matters for thị trường ETF pricing

The VN-Index closed at 1,760.63 points (+1.26%), printing a low of 1,746.15 before rallying into the close. The VN30-Index, by contrast, finished at 1,892.98 points, up only 0.66%, with a session range of 1,883.34–1,895.77. That 60-basis-point performance gap is the single most important driver of today's thị trường ETF scoreboard: money rotated into mid- and small-cap names that sit outside the VN30 basket, so the large-cap trackers structurally underperformed the headline index. The VN30 basket remains concentrated in FPT (12.4%), TCB (9.2%), ACB (8.6%), HPG (8.4%), VPB (7.5%), MBB (7.1%) and MWG (6.2%) — a mix that simply did not carry the tape today.

3. Fund Flows: Where thị trường ETF Money Went

Foreign investors bought VND20.84 billion and sold VND5.02 billion of fund units, leaving a net VND15.82 billion. FUEVFVND alone accounted for VND14.59 billion — roughly 92% of the thị trường ETF net inflow — followed by E1VFVN30 at VND0.77 billion and FUEKIV30 at VND0.25 billion. On the other side, FUESSV30 (-VND0.09 billion) and FUESSV50 (-VND0.05 billion) carried the heaviest net foreign selling among the smaller trackers, a sign that flows remain highly concentrated rather than broad-based.

4. Thị trường ETF Outlook: What to Watch Next Session

The key variable for the thị trường ETF remains the VN-Index/VN30 spread. If mid- and small-cap rotation persists, diamond and VNX50-style funds should keep outperforming pure VN30 trackers. Watch whether FUEVFVND's foreign buying streak extends, and whether turnover can hold above VND25 billion — the level that separates a two-way thị trường ETF tape from a thin one. Position data and valuation context for each fund are on our fund directory.

Bottom line: thị trường ETF breadth was healthy at 8 gainers against 7 decliners, but returns and flows were not evenly shared — one diamond fund captured almost all of the foreign money while VN30 trackers diverged by up to 84 basis points on the day.
