How to Read This Snapshot

Two points about the data are worth stating up front. First, because the pull was taken before the market opened, every price shown for the six HOSE ETFs is the prior session's closing price rather than a live intraday quote. Second, the Volume column reads 0K units for all six HOSE-listed products — no session volume had been recorded at the time of the pull. The only volume figure in the snapshot belongs to VanEck Vietnam ETF (VNM), at 683K shares.

That distinction matters for anyone scanning the table for a headline: the returns columns carry real information for the week and month, while the HOSE volume column carries none in this particular snapshot.

Weekly Performance: VN30 Trackers vs. the Wider Market

Weekly returns across the six HOSE ETFs ranged from -1.18% to -5.20%. Every fund in the cohort was lower over the week, and every fund was also lower over the trailing month, with one-month returns falling between -2.36% and -7.37%. The daily column, by contrast, was mixed: four funds were lower and two were higher.

The VN30 Group: E1VFVN30, FUESSV30 and FUEKIVFS

E1VFVN30, the most widely tracked domestic fund in this dataset, closed at 34,190 VND. Its -1.18% weekly decline was the smallest of the six, and it also posted the smallest one-day move in the table at -0.09%. Over longer windows the picture was weaker: -4.15% for the month and -5.26% year to date.

SSIAM VN30 ETF (FUESSV30) closed at 24,000 VND and was one of only two funds in the table to post a positive one-day return, at +0.71%. That session gain sat inside a -2.20% week, a -2.36% month — the smallest one-month decline among the six HOSE funds — and a -5.14% year-to-date return.

KIM Growth VN30 ETF (FUEKIVFS) closed at 16,210 VND and recorded the largest single-session move in the entire table at +6.93%. Against that, its one-week return was -5.20% and its one-month return was -7.37%, both the weakest readings among the six HOSE-listed funds. The combination is a useful reminder that a strong daily print and a negative trend figure can coexist in the same row.

The Broader and Sector Group: FUEVFVND, FUESSV50 and FUESSVFL

DCVFMVN Diamond ETF (FUEVFVND) closed at 32,660 VND, down 1.00% on the day, 3.14% for the week, 3.94% for the month and 14.73% year to date — the weakest year-to-date reading of any fund in the table, including the US-listed VNM.

SSIAM VNX50 ETF (FUESSV50) closed at 27,970 VND, essentially flat on the day at -0.11%, but down 3.05% for the week and 4.54% for the month. Its year-to-date return of -1.58% was the shallowest decline in the group.

SSIAM VN FINLEAD ETF (FUESSVFL) closed at 28,020 VND, with a -1.09% daily move, a -3.28% week, a -5.34% month and a -7.71% year-to-date return.

Outside Vietnam's domestic listings, VanEck Vietnam ETF (VNM) closed at $16.72, down 0.71% on the day, 3.18% for the week, 6.59% for the month and 12.51% year to date.

Fund Flow or Trading Volume? Reading the Numbers Correctly

This report is framed as a weekly review of performance and flows, so it is worth being precise about what the underlying dataset actually contains. It contains price returns and, for one fund, a share-volume figure. It does not contain fund flow data.

Trading Volume Is Not the Same as Fund Flow

True ETF fund flow refers to creation and redemption activity — the change in an ETF's shares outstanding multiplied by its net asset value. That is a primary-market measure. Trading volume, by contrast, measures secondary-market turnover: how many units changed hands on the exchange. A fund can trade heavily without taking in a single new unit of capital, and it can take in capital on a quiet trading day. Likewise, foreign net buying or selling on the exchange is not fund flow.

Because this snapshot provides returns and, for one fund, share volume — but no shares-outstanding or NAV data — no flow figure can be derived from it, and none is presented in this article. Where the table shows movement, it should be read as price performance, not as capital entering or leaving a fund.

For the six HOSE-listed ETFs, the point is even simpler: the Volume column reads 0K units across the board in this pre-open snapshot, so there is no trading-volume signal to interpret for those funds here at all.

VanEck Vietnam ETF (VNM): The Only Volume Figure in the Snapshot

VNM is the single row in the table with a volume reading, at 683K shares. Even that figure is share volume on the exchange for the US listing, not a creation or redemption total. Its accompanying returns were -0.71% for the day, -3.18% for the week, -6.59% for the month and -12.51% year to date, per the same Yahoo Finance data pull.

Year-to-Date: The Bigger Picture Behind the Weekly Moves

Stepping back from the week, the year-to-date column shows how differently these funds have behaved over a longer horizon — and how little the weekly ranking tells you about the annual one.

The Year-to-Date Spread Across the Six HOSE ETFs

Year-to-date returns for the six HOSE-listed funds were: -1.58% (FUESSV50), -4.98% (FUEKIVFS), -5.14% (FUESSV30), -5.26% (E1VFVN30), -7.71% (FUESSVFL) and -14.73% (FUEVFVND). That is a spread of 13.15 percentage points between the strongest and weakest year-to-date performers in the group, based on the figures in the table above.

The divergence between the weekly and annual rankings is instructive. FUESSV50 posted a -3.05% week, a steeper decline than E1VFVN30's -1.18%, yet its year-to-date return of -1.58% is more than three percentage points better than E1VFVN30's -5.26%. Short windows and long windows are answering different questions.

What the Table Does Not Tell You

What none of these columns reveal is why returns diverged, or whether investors added or removed capital. Price returns reflect the underlying index performance and the fund's tracking, and this dataset contains no holdings, no NAV and no shares-outstanding data that would support a deeper attribution. Any fund-level analysis beyond the figures shown would require additional sourced data.
