Vietnam ETF Comparison: Which Fund Leads YTD and Which Is Least Risky?

Based on Yahoo Finance data as of the 18/09/2026 close, Vietnam's ETF field shows a sharp divide between short-term and year-to-date performance. KIM Growth VN30 ETF (FUEKIVFS) holds the strongest year-to-date return in this group at +1.99%, while DCVFMVN Diamond ETF (FUEVFVND) sits at the bottom of the same YTD table at -10.70%. Over the past month, however, the ranking looks almost inverted, with VFMVN30 ETF (E1VFVN30) leading at +5.03%.

Today's Session: Six of Seven Funds Closed Higher

The 18/09/2026 session was broadly positive across the group. Six of the seven funds in this comparison closed higher on the day, with only SSIAM VNX50 ETF (FUESSV50) finishing in negative territory at -0.04%. The figures below are official closing prices, as the market has closed for the session.

FUESSVFL leads the day at +2.07%

SSIAM VN FINLEAD ETF (FUESSVFL) posted the strongest single-day move in the table, closing at 29,110 VND for a gain of +2.07%. It was also the most heavily traded fund of the session, with 1,333K units changing hands. VFMVN30 ETF (E1VFVN30) was next at +1.43%, closing at 35,500 VND on 551K units, followed by the US-listed VanEck Vietnam ETF (VNM) at +1.04% to $17.55 on 453K shares.

Smaller gains for FUEKIVFS, FUEVFVND and FUESSV30

DCVFMVN Diamond ETF closed at 34,200 VND, up +0.29% on 167K units. KIM Growth VN30 ETF closed at 17,400 VND, up +0.99%, with 0K units recorded for the session. SSIAM VN30 ETF (FUESSV30) added +0.16% to close at 24,860 VND on 18K units. SSIAM VNX50 ETF was the only decliner, closing at 28,500 VND, down -0.04% on 9K units.

The YTD Leaderboard: FUEKIVFS Leads at +1.99%

Year-to-date, the picture changes substantially. Only two funds in this comparison are positive for 2026: KIM Growth VN30 ETF at +1.99% and SSIAM VNX50 ETF at +0.28%. Every other fund in the table is negative year-to-date.

The full YTD ranking

  1. FUEKIVFS (KIM Growth VN30 ETF): +1.99%
  2. FUESSV50 (SSIAM VNX50 ETF): +0.28%
  3. E1VFVN30 (VFMVN30 ETF): -1.63%
  4. FUESSV30 (SSIAM VN30 ETF): -1.74%
  5. FUESSVFL (SSIAM VN FINLEAD ETF): -4.12%
  6. VNM (VanEck Vietnam ETF): -8.16%
  7. FUEVFVND (DCVFMVN Diamond ETF): -10.70%

What a +1.99% YTD lead actually means

FUEKIVFS leads the YTD table, but the lead is modest in absolute terms: +1.99%. What stands out more is the distance to the bottom of the ranking. FUEVFVND's -10.70% YTD sits well below the next weakest fund, VNM at -8.16%. The three VN30-tracking domestic funds cluster relatively closely together year-to-date: FUEKIVFS at +1.99%, E1VFVN30 at -1.63% and FUESSV30 at -1.74%.

That clustering is worth noting. All three track versions of the VN30 universe, and their YTD returns sit within a comparatively tight band compared with the Diamond and FINLEAD strategies further down the table.

Shorter Timeframes: A Different Leader in Every Window

One of the most striking features of this dataset is how often the leader changes depending on the measurement window. The fund at the top of the YTD table is at the bottom of the one-week table, and vice versa.

One month: E1VFVN30 leads at +5.03%

Over the past month, VFMVN30 ETF's +5.03% is the strongest return in the group, followed by SSIAM VN FINLEAD ETF at +4.83% and DCVFMVN Diamond ETF at +3.17%. VanEck Vietnam ETF added +2.57%, SSIAM VN30 ETF +1.97% and KIM Growth VN30 ETF +0.58%. SSIAM VNX50 ETF was the only fund negative over one month, at -1.93%.

One week: FUEVFVND flips to the top at +2.03%

Over the past five sessions the ranking reshuffles again. DCVFMVN Diamond ETF's +2.03% is the best one-week return in the table, ahead of SSIAM VN30 ETF at +1.76% and VFMVN30 ETF at +0.14%. At the other end, SSIAM VN FINLEAD ETF fell -2.12% over the week, VanEck Vietnam ETF -2.50%, SSIAM VNX50 ETF -3.06% and KIM Growth VN30 ETF -4.34% — the weakest one-week figure in the group.

So FUEVFVND, the worst YTD performer at -10.70%, is simultaneously the best one-week performer at +2.03%. And FUEKIVFS, the best YTD performer at +1.99%, is the worst one-week performer at -4.34%. Both statements come from the same table, dated the same day.

Which Vietnam ETF Is Least Risky? Reading the Data Honestly

An important caveat comes first. This dataset contains closing prices, periodic returns and trading volume only. It does not include volatility, standard deviation, tracking error, maximum drawdown, fund flow or net asset value figures. Any answer to "which fund is least risky" therefore has to be framed as which fund has shown the least volatile set of returns across the periods shown — not as a formal risk measurement.

Return dispersion across the four windows

Looking at how widely each fund's returns move across the four periods available:

  • FUESSV30 (SSIAM VN30 ETF) shows a comparatively contained profile: +0.16% over one day, +1.76% over one week, +1.97% over one month and -1.74% YTD. All four figures sit in a relatively narrow range.
  • FUESSV50 (SSIAM VNX50 ETF) has the smallest YTD magnitude at +0.28%, but its shorter windows are weaker: -0.04% over one day, -3.06% over one week and -1.93% over one month.
  • E1VFVN30 (VFMVN30 ETF) swings more: +1.43% over one day and +5.03% over one month, but -1.63% YTD.
  • FUEVFVND shows the widest gap between windows: +2.03% over one week versus -10.70% YTD.
  • FUEKIVFS shows the opposite pattern: +1.99% YTD versus -4.34% over the past week.

The answer depends on the holding period

An investor judging risk over a one-week horizon would look at a very different fund than one judging over a year-to-date horizon. On the figures above, no single fund is simultaneously the top performer and the most contained across every window. FUESSV30's returns are clustered most tightly across the four periods shown, but that observation describes return behaviour only — it is not a substitute for a volatility or drawdown analysis, neither of which is available in this dataset.

Volume, Liquidity and How to Compare These Funds Yourself

Trading activity varied widely across the group on 18/09/2026.

FUESSVFL traded 1,333K units

SSIAM VN FINLEAD ETF recorded the highest volume in the table at 1,333K units. VFMVN30 ETF followed at 551K units, with VanEck Vietnam ETF at 453K shares. DCVFMVN Diamond ETF recorded 167K units, SSIAM VN30 ETF 18K units and SSIAM VNX50 ETF 9K units. KIM Growth VN30 ETF recorded 0K units for the session.

Trading volume is not fund flow

These are exchange trading volumes — units changing hands between buyers and sellers on the secondary market. They are not creation or redemption activity, and a high-volume session does not by itself indicate capital entering or leaving a fund. This dataset does not include creation/redemption data or official fund flow figures, so no conclusion about net inflows or outflows can be drawn from the volume column above. The same applies to the price moves: a +2.07% close for FUESSVFL is a market price change, not a flow measurement.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Vietnam ETF has the best YTD return as of 18/09/2026?

Based on the Yahoo Finance data as of the 18/09/2026 close, KIM Growth VN30 ETF (FUEKIVFS) has the highest year-to-date return in this comparison at +1.99%, followed by SSIAM VNX50 ETF (FUESSV50) at +0.28%. DCVFMVN Diamond ETF (FUEVFVND) has the lowest YTD return at -10.70%.

Which Vietnam ETF is the least risky?

This dataset does not contain volatility, standard deviation or maximum drawdown figures, so a formal risk ranking cannot be produced from it. Looking only at the returns shown, SSIAM VN30 ETF (FUESSV30) has the most tightly clustered set of figures across the one-day, one-week, one-month and YTD windows (+0.16%, +1.76%, +1.97% and -1.74%). This is a description of return dispersion, not a risk measurement.

Does FUESSVFL's 1,333K unit volume mean strong fund inflows?

No. The 1,333K units figure is exchange trading volume on 18/09/2026 — units traded between market participants. It is not creation/redemption activity, and the dataset does not include official fund flow data. Trading volume alone cannot establish whether capital entered or left the fund.
